Supplementary Curricular Courses
In the upcoming semester, the “SUPPLEMENTARY CURRICULAR COURSES” will be offered. This course is offered in our department under the code MSE489, and its prerequisites and content are as follows:
Purpose: To contribute to our students’ career development and help them acquire knowledge and skills not covered in the curriculum
Students may make a course substitution/equivalency application to have online courses offered on digital platforms (e.g., Coursera), online or physically attended certificate programs, or courses completed at national or international summer schools count toward their credit-bearing Curriculum Supporting Departmental Course (MDAD), provided they document that they registered for and successfully completed them within the specified timeframes, and in the quantity determined by their departments for each semester or throughout their undergraduate education. A maximum of one credit course may be taken under this status throughout the entire duration of undergraduate education.
Application Requirements:
- The total duration of the certificates to be submitted must be at least 90 hours.
- To avoid any future issues, the training courses you plan to take must be approved in advance by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mertol Gökelma. Courses completed without prior approval may not be recognized as part of the course.
- Before registering for the MSE489 course, students must submit their certificates to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mertol Gökelma to obtain approval of eligibility.
- Students who have completed at least 80% of the total training duration may take the course even if they have not fully completed their certificate programs. However, successful completion of the course requires the completion of the relevant training programs.
- The certificates to be submitted must have been obtained during the undergraduate program.
Certificates must cover the years of undergraduate study. Grades will be based on the programs you participate in, as well as the presentations you give and the reports you write during those courses.
